What an emotional night at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards! There were a lot of awards to give out and with only two hours of the broadcast of the 2016 People’s Choice Award, many were not presented during the show. However, I did list those winners, along with all the nominees and winners at the end of this recap. Jane Lynch hosted the show and she did a pretty good job. She opened the 2016 People’s Choice Awards with her rendition of Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon.

2016 People’s Choice Awards Highlights and Winner Recap
- Jack Black and Kate Hudson present the first award of the night, Favorite Comedic Movie Actress to Melissa McCarthy. Very well deserved in my opinion, as she is always funny in whatever movie she is in.
- Christina Milian and Chris D’Elia presented the award for Favorite Breakout Artist to Shawn Mendes. I was rather surprised to see him win over The Weeknd.
- The girls from Grease Live, Julianne Hough, Carly Rae Jepsen, Vanessa Hudgens, Keke Palmer and Kether Donohue, presented the award for Favorite Album to Meghan Trainor for Title. Not a surprise there at all.
- Chris Hemsworth wins the award for Favorite Action Movie Actor, presented by Lea Michele and Adam Devine. This was another surprise for me as I expected Johnny Depp or Robert Downey Jr to win.
- In the audience, Sasha Alexander is presented with the award for Favorite Cable TV Actress.
- There are only three performances tonight and the first, Shawn Mendes sings his song Stitches and I Know What You Did Last Summer with Fifth Harmony singer Camilla Cabello. Good performance all in all.
- Favorite Dramatic TV Actor award is presented to Taylor Kinney by Natalie Dormer and Ed Westwick. Love him!
- John Stamos, Favorite Actor in a New TV Series and Priyanka Chopra, Favorite Actress in a New TV Series, presented the award for Favorite Movie and Favorite Action Movie to Furious 7. Vin Diesel accepts the award and makes an emotional speech about Paul Walker and breaks out in song with See You Again. It was awesome and emotional at the same time.

- Josh Holloway and Abigail Spencer are onstage to present the award to Pretty Little Liars for Favorite Cable TV Drama. I love this show and was happy it won, well deserved.
- Marcia Gay Harden and Raza Jeffrey presented Sandra Bullock with the award for Favorite Movie Actress. I love her, one of my favorite actresses of all time. Harden and Jeffrey also presented Johnny Depp with the award for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actor. Very well deserved, such a talented actor.
- Melissa McCarthy presented Ellen DeGeneres with the award for Favorite Humanitarian. Ellen also wins the award for Favorite Talk Show Host. I love Ellen and everything she does for deserving people.
- It’s performance time! Jason Derulo sings his songs Get Ugly and Want to Want Me. Great performance as always!
- Leslie Mann and Alison Brie presented the award for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress to Dakota Johnson. Never seen her movie but I heard she was good in it (50 Shades of Grey).
- Nia Long and Mike Epps presented the award for Favorite Daytime TV Hosting Team to The Talk hosts. Never been a fan of the show and was honestly hoping Good Morning America would win. During their acceptance speech, some weird heckler ran up on stage to promote rapper Kevin Gates. It was a bit weird and strange if you ask me.
- During a commercial break, The Voice wins the award for Favorite Competition TV Show and Maddie Ziegler wins the award for The DailyMall.com Seriously Popular Award. I have to say I have no idea who she was until I looked her up and discovered she is an actress and a singer.
- The final performance is by Jordan Smith, the latest winner of The Voice, who performs a rendition of You Are So Beautiful. I love The Voice and was glad he won but wasn’t impressed with this performance tonight.

- Amber Valletta and Maggie Lawson presented Homeland with the award for Favorite Premium Cable TV Show. I have never seen any of the shows nominated in this category but I do know who Claire Danes is. She accepted the award with her co-stars Mandy Patinkin and F. Murray Abraham.
- Betsy Brandt and Colin Hanks are onstage to present the award for Favorite Network TV Comedy, which went to The Big Bang Theory. Like there was any doubt who would win this award. That is like the funniest TV show ever, in my opinion. Jim Parsons also won the award for Favorite Comedic TV Actor. Love love love Sheldon!
- The final award of the night is presented by Ming-Na Wen and Clark Gregg for Favorite Network TV Drama, which went to Grey’s Anatomy. Another disappointment if you ask me. This award should have gone to either Scandal or Gotham. Also, the award for Favorite Dramatic TV Actress went to Ellen Pompeo. I thought Kerry Washington was going to win this one honestly.
