Looking for the best movies to watch when you want to be alone? These four flicks will give you the mental break you deserve without all the pressure of hanging out in a group. Sometimes it’s nice to just throw on your rattiest comfy jammies, shut off your phone and just chill at home. When I feel like that, I love loading up my Netflix queue and binging on movies. Cast Away
Cast Away is about a FedEx executive who finds himself alone after his plane crashes on a deserted island. When he realizes that being rescued is not in his immediate future, he must learn to survive the elements and hold on to his sanity at the same time.
Four years go by and Chuck Noland is still on the island. His friends and family back home have moved on without him. He’s just a fond memory in their eyes. But, there’s still hope. Noland builds a raft. Will he end up getting rescued? Watch Cast Away to find out.
I Am Legend
I Am Legend stars Will Smith. In this movie, he plays Robert Neville, a scientist specializing in the spread of deadly viruses. Unfortunately, a virus meant to cure cancer has just wiped out most of the population and he is the last human living in New York City. The other inhabitants are nocturnal vampire-like mutants.
Neville is immune to the virus. His ultimate goal is to try to find a cure that will turn the mutants back into humans and to save the world in the process. If you love this movie, check out more great vampire movies to watch!
Gravity
Gravity is a film about astronauts who venture into space. Sandra Bullock is Dr. Ryan Stone who happens to be on her first mission. Due to an unexpected occurrence (debris from a Russian satellite hits Stone’s space shuttle), she gets separated from the craft and then finds out that the rest of the crew is dead.
Still in her small capsule, the Dr. tries to make contact with NASA. Nothing works. So, she gives up and decides to commit suicide. However, something stops her. Watch the film, to discover her fate!
In Your Eyes
In Your Eyes follows the lives of two young people, Rebecca and Dylan. When Rebecca gets injured in a New Hampshire sledding accident, Dylan can feel it happening. The strange thing about it is this. He’s not with her. He’s at school, miles away.
Twenty years later, Rebecca is married and Dylan is in jail. But, they still have their special connection. All this time, they have never met. They discover that they can hear each other when they talk out loud. So, that’s how they get to know each other and began to fall in love. The big question is will they ever finally meet in person or will they both end up being alone?
These are just four of many movies to watch when you want to be alone. They all feature plotlines that have something to do with living life solo… at least temporarily. Just think, when you’re watching movies by yourself, there’s no need to share the popcorn!

I am legend is so good! … but makes me anxious. LOL I refer to watch that one when my hubby is home 🙂

I’ve seen a couple of these movies. The first two you have listed I have seen. They’re certainly great movies. Cast Away has always been one of my favorites.
I haven’t seen many movies, but some of them sound really fun. I love watching movies alone – it is such a great way to unwind.
I have seen most of these, but just watched the trailer for In Your EYes and I really want to see that now!
