Independence Day: Resurgence is an upcoming sci-fi disaster movie that will be in theaters on June 25, 2016, and is the sequel to the 1996 Independence Day. In the first film, the world must survive an alien attack and in the sequel, Earth is faced with a whole new threat, but are the new space defenses going to be enough to fight off the threat? Battleship is a 2012 military science fiction action war movie and was released in theaters on May 18, 2012. The movie is based on the 1967 Milton Bradley game based on the same name. Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard, Rihanna, John Tui, Brooklyn Decker and Tadanobu Asano. The movie showcases several ships that find themselves in the midst of a battle with an alien armada.

Battle: Los Angeles

Battle: Los Angeles is a 2011 military science fiction war movie that was released in theaters on March 11, 2011. Battle: Los Angeles stars Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Ne-Yo, Michael Pena, Ramon Rodriguez and Bridget Moynahan. The movie is about USMC Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz, who is currently retired, but heads back into action in the midst of a global alien invasion.

War of the Worlds

War of the Worlds is a 2005 science fiction disaster movie that was released in theaters on June 29, 2005. The film is loosely based on 1898 book of the same name by H.G. Wells. War of the Worlds stars Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, Justin Chatwin, Tim Robbins and Miranda Otto. The movie is about the Ferrier Family, consisting of dad Ray, daughter Rachel, and son Robbie, and their fight to survive an alien tripod fighting machine invasion.

The Thing

The Thing is a 1982 science fiction horror movie that was released in theaters on June 25, 1982. The Thing stars Kurt Russell, A. Wilford Brimley, T.K. Carter, Keith David and David Clennon. The movie centers on members of an Antarctica scientific research outpost, who are tasked with fighting a parasitic alien organism.
