Lost City of Z Movie Trivia

The first actor to be chosen for the role of Percy Fawcett was Brad Pitt. However, he later withdrew from the role due to scheduling conflicts with his filming the 2013 movie World War Z, in which he plays the lead role of Gerry Lane.

Benedict Cumberbatch was also chosen for the role of Percy Fawcett on September 4, 2013, but he had to decline in February of 2015, because of scheduling conflicts with the 2016 movie Doctor Strange, in which he plays the lead role of Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange.

Tom Holland, who plays the role of Jack Fawcett, Percy’s son, donned a fake mustache for the movie because he said he was too young to be able to grow a moustache on his own. He was 17 at the time he was hired for the role and 19 at the time of filming.

The Lost City of Z movie director is James Gray. He has also directed Little Odessa in 1994, We Own the Night in 2007, Blood Ties in 2013 and The Immigrant in 2013.

Amazon Studios, a division of Amazon, is the movie’s distributor, along with Bleecker Street. In addition to The Lost City of Z, Amazon Studios has also distributed the 2016 movie Love & Friendship, along with Roadside Attractions; the 2016 movie The Dressmaker, along with Broad Green Pictures and the 2016 movie Manchester by the Sea, along with Roadside Attractions.

Bleecker Street, who also distributes The Lost City of Z, has also distributed the 2015 movie Beasts of No Nation, the 2015 movie Trumbo and the 2016 movie Captain Fantastic.

Filming for The Lost City of Z started on August 19, 2015 in Belfast, Ireland. Later, filming was done in Columbia, South America and concluded on October of 2015.

The real-life Percy Fawcett was born on August 18, 1867 in Torquay, Devon, United Kingdom. He disappeared, at the age of 57, on May 29, 1925 in Mato Grosso, Brazil.
