Wow, putty has come a loooong way since I was a kid! Remember when it used to be one color and came in a tiny egg? Not anymore, thanks to Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty! Until you’ve tried Crazy Aaron’s you have no idea how fun putty can be! Jacob and I received two different types of Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty: Super Illusion and Phantoms.
Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty Review: Science Fun in a Tin!
After seeing the pictures of Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty when I was picking out my colors, I couldn’t wait to open up those tins! First we opened up the Phantoms putty. I was intrigued by the promise that I could actually write on it with a UV pen (which they thoughtfully include in the package). Jacob was also very excited about this and got to work drawing on his putty.
The cool thing about the Phantoms Putty is that you can draw over and over again. The drawing vanishes before your eyes, so it’s fun for creating quick secret messages! It also changes colors in the sunlight, becoming darker as it’s exposed to more direct light.
Even more exciting? It glows in the dark! Like REALLY glows, bright and beautiful. I tried to take a good picture to show it off. It’s a little grainy because I’m still learning how to take pictures in the dark, but you get the idea. It really is that vivid and cool!
After our fun with the Phantoms Putty, we checked out the Super Illusion. What’s the “illusion” part, you ask? Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty Super Illusion “magically” brings itself back to together. Twist it and pull it any way you want, then watch it as it slowly goes back to its original shape.
Jacob and I have been running experiments to test this claim. It started when we balled up the putty and stuck it back in the tin. Later that night, Jacob came down to play with it again and realized that it was back in the shape of the tin, filling the whole diameter. We then embarked on a mission to thwart the Thinking Putty! First we twisted it and put it back. An hour later, it was in its original position again. Then we broke it in two, then three, then in small balls spread through the tin. Over and over, it returned back to the way it came!
Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty: Not Just for Kids!
Obviously, since this is MyKidsGuide, we wanted to focus on the science fun you can have with your kids. However, I discovered an extra benefit to Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty: it is incredibly relaxing to play with for me! I love squishing it in my hands while I’m sitting on the couch relaxing with some television. I spend upwards of ten hours a day typing and have the carpal tunnel to prove it. I find it soothing to just mindlessly play with the putty. It is great exercise for my hands. It really is amazing how much fun you can get out of a single tin of Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty!
