The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards Recap Moments You Don’t Want To Miss #GoldenGlobes

Ricky Gervais is the host for 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards Recap for the 4th time. The awards ceremony is held live at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Gervais opens the show with some pretty mean jokes, poking fun at Caitlyn Jenner, Roman Polanski, and several others.

Opening Jokes Of The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards: The Cheap Shot Recap

  • “I’m going to be nice tonight. I’ve changed — not as much as Bruce Jenner. Obviously. Now Caitlyn Jenner, of course. What a year she’s had! She became a role model for trans people everywhere, showing great bravery in breaking down barriers and destroying stereotypes.”
  • “Jennifer Lawrence made headlines when she demanded equal pay for women in Hollywood. There were marches on the street with nurses and factory workers saying, ‘How the hell can be a 25-year-old live on $52 million?!’”
  • “The excellent Spotlight has been nominated. The Catholic Churches are furious about the film because it exposes that 5 percent of all their priests have molested children and been allowed to continue to work without punishment. Roman Polanski called it ‘the best date movie ever.’”
  • “The Hollywood Foreign Press deemed The Martian a comedy and even nominated it. And hence, Matt Damon is here tonight, so that worked a treat, didn’t it? To be fair, The Martian was a lot funnier than Pixels. But then again, so was Schindler’s List.”

  • Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson present the award for Best Television Series- Musical or Comedy to Mozart in the Jungle. Honestly, I never expected this to be even never nominated mind win. How did this win over Orange is the New Black?

  • Matt Damon takes the stage to showcase scenes from The Martian.

  1. I didn’t watch it, so thank you for the recap! Otherwise I never would have known what happened 🙂

  2. So I am convinced that Lady Gaga pinched Leo or something…she is absolutely fantastic and I must admit I’m not the biggest fan of him. He is pretty dreamy standing there with his award though…

  3. Yep, those are definitely the highlights! It’s nice to see Leo finally win a best actor award, although we know that he’s really after the Oscars.

  4. Ricky Gervais made us crack up quite a few times. I didn’t think it made a lot of sense that The Martian was in the comedy/musical category.

  5. Its so nice to see that leo win an best actor awards. love the video

  6. The Martian winning at what category? Wow! It’s a good film but winning such award for that category is quite confusing.

  7. I was not able to watch the show, but I’d read a few articles about the event. I saw a feature segment about the stars’ gowns and they were fantastic! Thanks for the recap!

  8. I have watched few Golden Globe Awards in the past few years which has been full of excitement to watch. This year the Leonardo Dicaprio reaction topped the fun list & I loved that he later apologized to Lady Gaga & that all is well after that.

  9. I didnt watch the golden globes but I watched some of the recaps. I thought the jokes were hilarious! haha
