Dancing with the Stars Season 21 Week 9: Shocking Elimination

Is it me or has this Dancing With The Stars season 21 gone by quick? There are only two weeks left in the competition. Last night’s episode (week 9) contained two rounds: regular dances and the dance duets. And there was an elimination so now we are left with five couples. It was a shocking elimination I have to say. It seemed that Tamar was taken to the hospital for pneumonia and it wasn’t sure that she was going to make the show, but she did end up dancing at the last round.

Dancing with the Stars Season 21 Week 9 Recap

Alek and Lindsay- Salsa

Carlos gave Alek some dancing tips after Lindsay saying that he wasn’t the best dancer in the competition. Alek had his chest waxed so he could dance with his shirt off. Kind of strange about the whole waxing thing but okay. The dance was mediocre, certainly not his best. Then again, Latin dances have not always been good to Alek.

Carrie Ann- 8- Alek and the music never came together

Julianne– 8- He messed up a bit

Bruno– 8- Hip action and fluidity needs work

Total- 24/30

Alexa and Mark- Contemporary

In rehearsals, Alexa tells Mark about the time she was called fat by movie producers during filming, leading to her dealing with bulimia. The dance was perfect, kudos to Mark for some amazing choreography. I thought this was her best dance so far in the competition.

Carrie Ann– 10- It was more than just a dance, it was healing

Julianne– 10- Strength is born where vulnerability comes in

Bruno- 10- Alexa danced like a woman possessed

Total- 30/30

Carlos and Witney- Argentine Tango

Witney had a tough time coming up with a decent routine during rehearsals. But the routine turned out very well. Carlos didn’t make any mistakes nor did he miss any steps.

Carrie Ann- 9- It was good but lacked impact

Julianne- 9- Passion was lacking, Carlos is an amazing dancer

Bruno- 9- Enjoyed the concept

Total- 27/30

Bindi and Derek- Viennese Waltz

Bindi didn’t disappoint again this week. She did an awesome leap into Derek, kudos Bindi! Derek also did another great job on the choreography. She is definitely in it to win it!

Carrie Ann- 10- It was perfect and unique

Julianne- 10- Thinks we have all watched Bindi grow

Bruno- 10- Dance spoke for itself

Total- 30/30

Tamar and Val- Contemporary

Okay, I am confused. So, the show is judging her on the dress rehearsals. Huh? I thought if the contestant wasn’t there to dance, they were eliminated? Anyhow, it is hard to judge on a dress rehearsal. It definitely looked like a rehearsal.

Carrie Ann- 8- Could tell it was a dress rehearsal

Julianne– 7- Agreed with Carrie Ann

Bruno- 7- Lots of mistakes in the routine

Total- 22/30

Nick and Sharna- Quickstep

Nick has a very sore hip, wonders if his body is trying to tell him something. Great routine though with Nick showing off some of his skills doing a few solo steps.

Carrie Ann- 9- Glad Nick didn’t lose last week’s mojo, but there was a moment that wasn’t in sync

Julianne- 9- The performance went down due to an in-hold

Bruno- 10- Loved it

Total- 28/30

Dancing with the Stars Season 21 Week 9 Dance Duets:

Carlos and Witney/Alek and Lindsay- Paso Doble

The two couples went on a cruise for inspiration from the show We Will Rock You. The boys want to have fun on the cruise while the ladies want them to concentrate on rehearsing. But when it comes down to dance time, it turned out well. Alek was actually doing extremely well keeping up with Carlos. Alek and Carlos had to dance together for 30 seconds. Great routine by all.

Carrie Ann- 8- Were kind of out of sync

Julianne– 8- Found it stale

Bruno- 8- Needed to be more ballsy

Total- 24/30

Bindi and Derek/Alexa and Mark- Charleston

The two couples saw the show Chicago in New York as inspiration for their dance. During rehearsals, it seemed Mark and Derek were having a rough time and Alexa was scared to miss steps. However, this routine was beyond amazing. Bindi played the role of Roxie while Alexa was Velma.

Carrie Ann- 10- Said it was reinvention at its finest

Julianne- 10- Wishes she was in the routine

Bruno- 10- Loved the feel and style

Total- 30/30

Nick and Sharna/Tamar and Val- Rumba

So, lo and behold Tamar shows up to dance. The two couples saw the show Love by Cirque du Soleil. The routine was pretty neat with some stunts added into the rumba. Tamar is not at her best but then again she just got out of the hospital.

Carrie Ann- 9- Fantastic performance

Julianne- 9- Nick was a leading man

Bruno- 9- Called it magical

Total- 27/30

Dancing with the Stars Season 21 Week 9: Time for elimination!

Safe:

  • Bindi and Derek
  • Nick and Sharna
  • Alek and Lindsay
  • Tamar and Val

In Jeopardy:

  • Alexa and Mark
  • Carlos and Witney

The married couple is in jeopardy. Alexa and Mark are the ones eliminated! So sad to see her go! Carlos was extremely upset and wished it was him eliminated instead of his wife. Alexa got a perfect score tonight and still was eliminated. I think Alek should have been eliminated and don’t understand why he wasn’t even in jeopardy.

  1. I bet that was a real shocker to people watching the show that night.

  2. I have never actually watched this show but I guess it could be entertaining watching couples attempt to dance and not be eliminated. It sounds like it might have been rigged from what you said up there.

  3. I was glad to see Alexa go. I haven’t been too impressed with her this season. Alek needs to go next he has the worst attitude, and isn’t all that great.

    Bindi or Nick will win.

  4. I have to be honest with you, I don’t follow Dancing with the Starts, but you really make me want to… and it’s almost over? Bad timing!
