Are you spending a night in with mom,  and looking for some good mother-daughter comedy movies to make you LOL?  There are some kinds of movies you might not want to watch with your mom (the embarrassing kind!), but a good comedy is always a good choice!  Check out our list below for our favorite comedies to watch with your mom!

Mother-Daughter Comedy Movies

Bridesmaids: A funny movie about Annie Walker, played by Kristin Wiig and her BFF Lillian, played by Maya Rudolph.  Annie just lost her bakery, boyfriend and savings, all at once and is forced to live with a roommate and his sister.  Taking a job at a jewelry store, Lillian is her only source of happiness.  After getting engaged, Lillian asks Annie to be her Maid of Honor, only Annie doesn’t know any of the other bridesmaids, and takes an instant dislike to Helen, the rich wife of the groom’s boss.  Both Helen and Annie are jealous of each other’s relationship with Lillian and try to one-up each other in helping her plan her wedding.  This is something I am sure your mom can relate to and will one day have to help you go through!

The Guilt Trip: Although this is a movie about a mother and son on a road trip, but this could easily be about a mother and daughter road trip!  Andy (Seth Rogen) can’t seem to land a job and plans to head to Las Vegas by car.  After a disappointing meeting with K-Mart he visits his mom.  He convinces her to go on the trip, which she thinks is because he gave a great pitch to a company and now has to west for the job.  Like a mom does, she starts to intervene in his life (what else are you going to do stuck in a car for 10 hours a day?) Ultimately it ends up bringing them closer.

Mamma Mia: This is the movie that is based off of the Broadway musical and one of our favorite mother-daughter comedy movies!  Set on a Greek island, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is getting married.  She finds her mother’s diary (Meryl Streep) and discovers that there are 3 men who could be her father.  She invites them to her wedding, without telling her mother.  Sophie feels that if she can spend time with each one, she will be able to figure out who her real father is.  You can imagine how the rest of the movie goes!  It is fun because it is a musical and your mom will know the music as it is from ABBA.

Monster-In-Law: A 2005 comedy starring J-Lo.  She falls in love with Dr. Kevin Fields so of course she says yes when he pops the question.  She quickly finds out that his mother is not quite as happy as the newly engaged couple.  Kevin’s mother, Viola, played by Jane Fonda, recently lost her job as a newscaster and is feeling really needy of her son.  She sees his new fiance as competition.  A great movie to watch with your mom, she might be able to give you some tips on dealing with this for when your day comes!

Mrs. Doubtfire: I love this Robin Williams movie.  Daniel (Robin Williams) and Miranda (Sally Field) are divorced and have 3 children together.  Miranda is looking for a housekeeper, and after hearing about this, Daniel comes up with an elaborate plan to get her to hire him…as Mrs. Doubtfire, an old Scottish woman.  With the help of his brother who is a makeup artist and his partner, they transform Daniel into an old Scottish woman who wins over the kids and Miranda.  Will she find out who Mrs. Doubtfire really is?

There is nothing quite like some mother-daughter QT spent with a movie to make you belly laugh!  I love a good comedy and watching one with my mom always makes me feel closer to her.

My girls are still a bit young but I think they’d get a kick out of Bridesmaids in a year or two. I think its such a good movie, I was laughing most of it myself!

Bridesmaids was such a funny movie. I saw it less as a mother-daughter movie and more as a movie that tested the boundaries of friendship.
