Check out my picks for four movies that you definitely need to see at least once in your lifetime!

4 Movies Every Woman Should See at Least Once

Steel Magnolias

Steel Magnolias is based on a play, which showcases the illness and death of the writer’s real-life sister who suffered from Type 1 diabetes. It stars Julia Roberts, Shirley MacLaine, Sally Field, Dolly Parton and Daryl Hannah… just to name a few.

You’ll meet a group of strong women who are preparing for the wedding of Shelby and Jackson and dealing with the everyday happenings of life. Months after the wedding, Shelby gets pregnant and is told she could die from complications. Watch this touching movie and you’ll see that women can be both tough as steel and as delicate as a beautiful magnolia.

The Bridges of Madison County

The Bridges of Madison County is based on a popular novel by Robert James Waller. It stars Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep as Robert and Francesca. Robert is a photographer for a famous magazine. Francesca is an Italian war bride turned Iowa housewife.

They meet one summer day when Francesca’s family is away at the county fair. The two end up having an affair that changes both of their lives forever. They plan to run away together. But, fate intervenes.  It’s the story of love, heartbreak and the importance of doing the right thing… all rolled into one.

Erin Brockovich

This 2000 film is based on the real-life experiences of Erin Brockovich, a single mom who ends up working at a law firm as a clerk. She gets involved in a complicated case that centers around the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, poison water and town’s people who are dying from cancer.

As Erin digs deeper and deeper into the case, she makes new friends, learns about the law and unknowingly endangers her family. In the end, the gas company loses and is forced to pay the town millions in damages and Erin gets a huge bonus and respect from everyone at the firm.

Where the Heart Is

Where the Heart Is is the story of Novalee Nation, played by Natalie Portman. Novalee is 17 and pregnant. But, that isn’t the worst of it. Her boyfriend decides that he wants nothing more to do with her and abandons her at an Oklahoma Walmart.

Novalee eventually makes friends in town and has the baby. There are trials and tribulations along the way. But, she ends up with the life she always dreamed of.

These are just four (of countless) movies that every woman should watch at least once in her life. They’re all great to watch on a lazy Saturday afternoon with a group of friends or by yourself. Just make sure you have your favorite snacks and a large box of tissues at your disposal.
