Are you throwing a Thanksgiving themed party and need some game ideas? You could play the old and tired ‘pin-the-red-hangy-thing-on-the-turkey’, but that is no fun once you are out of single digit age group. The teenage years are tough! Teenage years are tough . Finding fun games that all your friends will enjoy can be tough too. Lucky for you, I have found some great games to play at your Thanksgiving party that you and your friends should enjoy!
Thanksgiving Themed Games for Your Next Party
Scavenger Hunt: I love a good scavenger hunt! Break your friends up into small groups, and hand them the clue sheet of things you are all going to have to gather up. When I was a teen I did this with a bunch of my friends, and we used a Polaroid camera for some of the items. You probably have a smartphone. Instead of having to gather up everything on your lists, you can take pics to show you did in fact find the thing on the list. If you can drive (or a friend can) you can broaden your search space by venturing out in cars!
Bingo: This is always a fun game, and suspenseful too! Think about it, you have all but one of your numbers and you are for sure going to yell BINGO any second…and then someone else does and you have lost it all. Ok maybe is not that suspenseful but still fun. You can fill the board with Thanksgiving and Autumn things like pumpkins and colorful leaves. Pick up some cute glittery stickers at the dollar store to fill your squares with those pictures and then use candy corn to mark them off (because let’s be honest, no one is actually going to eat the candy corn).
Pumpkin Ring Toss: Before you sit down to carve those beautiful pumpkins out, leave them alone, but be sure you got some with good stems on them (or not, makes it more challenging). Check your pool toys for those plastic diving rings. Or head to your local craft supply store for those round wooden cross stitch rings (I think that is what they are called). Three pumpkins, three rings, and three tries. The winner gets something cool and Thanksgiving related, like maybe a pumpkin!
Pumpkin Painting: After the rings toss, bring out all the other pumpkins you haven’t carved yet and bust out the paints and glitter paints and brushes (all sizes and shapes, makes it more fun). Maybe you can even have a theme or a contest such as scariest pumpkins, or prettiest pumpkins. And then your friends get to take them home!
Turkey Tag: You might think you are too old for a game of tag, but just wait, you will love this one. All you need are clothespins (3 for each friend) and make each set a different color (you can do this ahead of time to save time). The pins get places on the shirt backs, anywhere really. Now head outside to run around! The object is to get as many clothespins as you can without losing your own. It is not as easy as it sounds! I might actually try this at my next family gathering!
