Looking for other movies similar to Star Wars: The Force Awakens? We feel your pain!

We’ve already watched the first six films like a zillion times while awaiting the release of the new movie and now we need something else to fill the void!

Plus, if you’re like me, once you see a great movie like that, you get on a bit of a genre kick. So even after seeing it, I’ll need some other great sci-fi movies.

Krull-

Krull is a 1983 heroic fantasy science fiction film that was directed by Peter Yates, released by Columbia Pictures and stars Ken Marshall, Lysette Anthony, Freddie Jones, and David Battley. When a princess is kidnapped by an evil creature, the prince must risk everything to save her. However, first he and his group of warriors need to locate a mystical weapon to slay the evil creature.

Avatar-

Avatar is a 2009 epic science fiction movie that was directed by James Cameron (who is also the producer, writer, and editor), released by 20th Century Fox and stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver. Pandora is an alien world where beings called Na’vi reside. In order for human/Na’vi hybrids to survive in the poisonous environment, they need to link to the minds of humans. When a paralyzed Marine falls in love with a Na’vi woman on Pandora, he suddenly finds himself in a fight for her world’s survival.

Dune-

Dune is a 1984 science fiction movie that was directed by David Lynch, released by Universal Pictures and stars Jose Ferrer, Kyle MacLachlan, Jurgen Punch now, Silvana Mangano, Kenneth McMillan, Francesca Annis and Brad Dourif. The year is 10191 and on a desert planet, there is a spice that is precious. When a Duke is granted the planet and ousts his enemies, they decided to fight back.

 

Stargate-

Stargate is a 1994 adventure science fiction film that was directed by Roland Emmerich, released by Metro Goldwyn Mayer and stars Kurt Russell, James Spader, Jaye Davidson, Eric Avari and Viveca Lindfors. A professor and a retired Army Colonel join forces to unlock an interstellar gateway code that leads to an ancient world.

So grab the popcorn and settle down for a great movie night with your bestie. Which of these movies would you watch?

    Wow…you went all the way back to Krull of the 80s. I remember as a teen watching that one at the last drive in theater in NJ.
