We’re sharing a few surprising tidbits about the upcoming faith-based drama movie. The Shack is based on the 2007 book of the same name by William P. Young. The movie will hit theaters on March 3, 2017. The movie tells the story of Mack Phillips, whose daughter is murdered. It shares the journey of the aftermath of the murder, including his spiral into depression and doubts about his innermost beliefs. Here is some movie trivia from The Shack.

The Shack Movie Trivia

Some details about the soundtrack for The Shack have been released and it sounds like it will be awesome. Country power couple, Tim McGraw and his wife, Faith Hill, have recorded a duet for the film, titled Keep Your Eyes On Me. Tim McGraw is also set to star in the movie as the role of Willie.

Also on the soundtrack for the upcoming movie will be country duo Dan & Shay, with When I Pray for You; country group Lady Antebellum, with Lay Our Flowers Down; Christian rock band Skillet, with Stars; worship band Hillsong United, with Heaven Knows and pop star Kelly Clarkson and soul singer Aloe Blacc with a duet, titled Love Goes On.

Of course, as with many faith-based movies, The Shack doesn’t come without controversy. One of the main controversies is the 3 people that comprise The Trinity, in the movie. Jesus is a Jewish carpenter; The Holy Spirit is an Asian woman and God the Father is an African-American woman. The main problem lies with God the Father being a woman and being African-American.

The book, The Shack, by William P. Young is a best-selling novel, selling more than 25 million copies and is printed in 41 languages. He is aware of the controversy surround the book and the movie, but he states that his goal was to challenge people’s ideas about God’s character and nature.

On March 3, the New York Times bestseller #TheShack comes to the big screen. Buy tickets now: Link in bio!

Stuart Hazeldine is The Shack’s movie director. This will be the 2nd movie that he has directed, with his 1st being the 2009 psychological movie Exam.

Sam Worthington, who plays the role of Mack Phillips and Octavia Spencer, who plays the role of Papa/Elouisa, are the two main characters in the movie. Neither one of these stars are new to movie roles, however. Sam Worthington is well-known for his roles, including Jake Sully in the 2009 movie Avatar, Marcus Wright in the 2009 movie Terminator Salvation, Guy Cotter in the 2015 movie Everest and Captain Glover in the 2016 movie Hacksaw Ridge. Octavia Spencer is best-known for her roles, including Minny Jackson in the 2011 movie The Help, Jenny is the 2012 movie Smashed, Wanda in the 2013 movie Fruitvale Station and Dorothy Vaughan in the 2016 movie Hidden Figures.

I had not heard of this movie but it sounds amazing. I would love to see it. I have a friend who had something similar happen. Her husband struggled with his faith, but she never did.

The main things that usually drive me to want to see a movie are familiar faces and then the trailer. The latter was very engaging. Looks like a great movie to see.

I should watch the movie after I attempt to read the book. I got most of the way through it and had to put it down. The story was sad to me so it got difficult to read.

This sounds like a fantastic movie. It is amazing and difficult to face what our minds go through after a traumatic event. I think this will be a great film to help those who haven’t gone through such things to be able to see what you do go through and maybe be able to sympathize a little more with their friends and families who face tragedies.
